Ahead of the game

Everyone likes to tell me this is how I always am! I just can't help it! I like to be prepared. So...

I have two major trips coming up. One in June, and the biggest in July. I'd love to have some advice about traveling with a 15 month old (that's how old he will be for our big 12 hour drive!). So if you have any tips or stories PLEASE share! :)

Will was 16 months when we made the 7 hour trip to Birmingham... we drove THERE during the day (it was horrible - I'm sorry, I don't have any advice... he did enjoy SEVERAL carseat breaks [pizza hut, running in a babies r us we stumbled upon, etc] and thomas the train in the dvd player) and on the way BACK we started our trip at 7p.m. - he slept the entire way and it was a DREAM! I recommend copious amounts of caffeine for mom and dad if you choose the night time routine - definitely made for a happier boy in our house! GOOD LUCK!!!

We have done several long trips, one 11 hours. Granted E was really little but we are also taking another long one this summer and one that includes me flying solo with her! I plan to take a few new toys and books that she hasn't seen before and introduce them as needed. Maybe look into a portable DVD player if you don't have one in your car. I think we will try making our lunch stop like a picnic lunch and provide some good outdoor play time! I think being patient and going with the flow and the mood of the little one is always a must. Good luck. Make sure you posts what works for you for the rest of us. :)
